Moulded fibre import value lifts 11.5% year-ended March 2020

Egg cartons, fruit trays, medical pulp, mini display trays and an ever-growing range of moulded-fibre products continue to increase their presence in the Australian economy. The value of Australia’s Moulded Fibre product imports increased across the year ended March 2020. Up 11.5% across the year, total imports for the year-ended March 2020 were valued at AUDM38.3, compared to the AUDM33.9 imported in the prior year.

Imports were sourced from a variety of supplier countries, however the majority originated in the Asian region.

Chinese supplies accounted for 52.7% of all imported value (AUDM20.4), while Malaysian imports made up 24.3% (AUDM9.4). Examined over a five-year period, the value of imported moulded fibre products experienced an annual average growth rate of 16.4%.
